Join UK History Finders for our Sunday metal detecting dig in the Compton Pauncefoot / Yeovil area. The land available for this event will consist of cultivated stubble.

All detector brands are welcome. Please arrive in good time, follow all instructions given by the event organisers and remain within the designated detecting areas at all times.

Event Rules

1. All holes must be filled properly, regardless of the land conditions.
2. Earphones must be worn at all times.
3. All rubbish must be removed and must not be left in the hole or anywhere on the land.
4. Any hoard finds or items that may qualify as treasure must be reported immediately to our admin team, who will advise you and take charge of any extraction.
5. Please do not attempt to remove hoard or treasure items yourself. You may disturb important archaeological information and could be breaking the law.
6. All finds of interest should be shown and recorded by your Finds Liaison Officer (FLO).
7. All detectorists must carry a finds pouch or suitable bag to collect every metal item recovered.
8. Respect the land and the landowner's wishes. Close any gates you open and do not disturb livestock.
9. Attendees must never detect on Ancient Monuments, Scheduled Monuments or Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs).
10. Stay within the marked detecting areas and do not trespass onto any land for which permission has not been granted.
11. If you have confirmed your attendance but can no longer attend, you must inform the organisers by email as soon as possible.
12. Anyone found breaking these rules will be asked to leave and may be banned from future events.

Important Terms

By booking and paying for any of our digs, you confirm that you agree to all of the terms and conditions listed above.

You also agree to a 50/50 split with the landowner on all items legally deemed to be treasure.

Any non-treasure item valued at £1,000 or more will also be split 50/50 with the landowner.

These terms are not negotiable. In some circumstances the landowner may make a different request; if so, this will be stated clearly within the event description.
