THE SOMERSET EMPEROR

Despite Napoleon's ambitious desires for Europe he was never able to swing Northwards for an attempted invasion of Britain

Had he actually won any of the connected military entanglements at Trafalgar or Waterloo then no doubt things would be a whole lot different. However a recent detecting find by Dariusz indicates that perhaps an admirer of his in the form of a POW French Officer may well have found himself here during or after these conflicts.

The find is a high carat gold ring bearing a cameo portrait of the Emperor Napoleon on the bezel intaglio. No hall marks are evident anywhere on the ring. I like finds like this which really make you ponder the possibilities for how a ring of this nature was lost where it was and by who. An intriguing find for sure, well done Dariusz who will be sharing his experience of finding it in a future issue of Treasure Hunting magazine.
